The "real" official start to summer!

Everyone knows it's not really the summer solstice that signals the start of summer, it's when school is out! For us that is this Friday. I'm excited to not have to get up early and herd everyone out the door at the same time in the mornings. My daughter is actually bummed because she loves school! No worries, though- we've got the library summer reading program, princess camp, vacation, visits to Grandma's, VBS and lots of other fun to keep us busy!

We decided to give little gifts to her friends on the last day. I saw something similar on Pinterest (of course!), but we put our own spin on it. We had a lot of fun putting these together over the weekend. She says if the boys get pink, "they will freak out!".

I know her teacher likes to print at mpix, so I wanted to get a gift card from them for her. They don't send giftcards or certificates, though, so I made my own to slip inside a polaroid card. I cut 2 polaroid frames with my Silhouette, then sandwiched them together leaving the top open to slip our giftcard into. All that black & white needed some dressing up, so I had to add some twine from The Twinery in the school colors at the bottom.

I hope the summer is going great for everyone so far, and that if it hasn't started yet for you, I hope it starts very soon! I'm off to have some carrot cake ice cream. I think that's a good lunch, don't you? ;)
