Sew what?!

I have been a sewing fool lately! Like I can't stop. First, I got this super cute Michael Miller fabric to make my daughter a cute carrying case for her Epi-pens. Anything is cuter than the green box they come in that we were carrying around everywhere. I am actually quite impressed with how these turned out. I made up my own pattern for them- something I've never done before. I took my time and planned and measured everything out just right, and it ended up turning out just like I had hoped!

So next I saw these cute little pleated pouches on Pinterest and I had a friend with a birthday coming up, so I made one. Then I decided maybe she wouldn't want pink, so I made another so she could choose. Then I went to a work meeting, which just happened to be across the street from a fabric store (!), so I popped in there quick and saw that great stripey/chevron orange/grey/pink fabric & had to make one out of that. I've heard zippers are sucky to sew, but this tutorial made it easy I guess, because I had no problems! I even went on a zipper buying spree after I made the first one. I also have the pieces cut & ready to sew for 2 more of these!

My husband found this shirt he bought like over 10 years ago on vacation & never wore. We're heading back to Silver Lake Sand Dunes for vacation this summer, so I thought I'd made a dress out of it for my daughter to wear. It just cracks me up every time I look at it for some reason!

This was super easy- I just turned the shirt inside out, laid one of her current dresses on it and pinned it, cut it out leaving about a quarter inch or so around all sides for a seam allowance. Then I pinned the sides and sewed it up. When I had her try it on, we decided it needed ruffles, so I cut a few strips off the bottom, ruffled them and sewed them on. For the neck line ruffle, I just used a  strip from the side part we had cut off and ruffled that & sewed it on. This is a super quick project- the dress part probably only took 30 minutes, but the ruffles took a little longer.

Are you sewing anything this summer? I've got some other tutorials pinned on Pinterest that I want to attempt to make, and of course more of those little bags, too. I can always find a use for a cute little zippered  pouch! I'm also on the look out for more men's shirts  now- that dress is just too fun!

That epi-pen pouch for your daughter is amazing! I am a huge fan of Michael Miller fabrics. Both my boys have lots of stuff made out of that guitar fabric too...shirts, comforter, bib, carseat cover, etc...of course they are in the non-pink version! :)

Your sewing skills are amazing girl! The little purse pouches are cute too. Love what you did with your husband's t-shirt...so cute as a dress for your daughter!
